Wood Processing

Whether you are producing mulch or selling processed wood for pulp or fuel, HAMMEL has a solution that works for you.
Do you process everything to your final size in one pass, or do you already make two grinds with different size screens? Either way a HAMMEL can make your life easier and save you money!

Why process my wood with a HAMMEL shredder?

FeatureBenefit
What's in it for me?
Low Operating CostLess Fuel ConsumptionOur primary shredders use a fraction of the fuel that your high speed horizontals or tub grinders consume.

Less Wear and TearNot only do our primary shredders require less maintenance than a high speed grinder, your high speed grinder will require less maintenance and run more efficiently when fed with our pre-shredded material!

Over-Belt MagnetRemoves foreign metal objects

Prevent damage to your high speed grinder by removing foreign metal objects that may be in your wood like axe heads, metal brackets, bolts, etc.

Slow-Speed
Less FinesThe slow-speed process produces less fines, which will save you money by reducing the amount of color you have to use when coloring mulch

The recommended size of machine greatly depends on your individual situation. Overall throughput is a major factor, as is the size of the material coming in, as well as the desired output size. The 750 is very popular on mulch yards, but some customers require the power of a 950 to process the toughest stumps in large volume.
